Weavelore turns what you’ve lived — photos, places, words — into stories worth keeping. These terms cover how you use the app, what stays yours, and what happens when you send a story or delete your account. The plain-language summary comes first; the full terms follow.
The short version
What you own
- You own your stories. Lore (reader contributions) becomes part of your story but stays the contributor’s words.
- When you make a story discoverable, you’re affirming you have the rights to the photos in it.
How stories get used
- Private letters stay private. No one but the recipient sees them.
- Discoverable stories can be published (collections, books) and used to help train AI systems.
- In both cases we anonymize: we remove your name and personal details, but keep location and dates.
- Photos with recognizable people aren’t used to train AI unless you explicitly affirm them.
Paying
- Writing, reading, and contributing Lore are always free.
- Sending letters or making stories discoverable requires a subscription. You’re charged when that gate fires, and you can cancel anytime.
- Payment is handled by Apple. We never store your card details.
- Cancelling is not the same as deleting. If you cancel your subscription, you drop to the free tier — your stories stay and you can download them anytime.
Deleting your account
- You can delete your account anytime from the app. We erase your login, profile and personal details, your draft/private/unsent stories and their photos, your relationship graph, and your inbox.
- Two things stay: letters you’ve already sent (they belong to the people you gave them to now, like mail already delivered), and Lore you added to other people’s stories (theirs now). Your name stays only as the author of what you chose to give.
- If someone else deletes their account, we remove their personal details and can no longer reach or connect them — but a plain mention another author wrote into their own story (“X was there”) may remain, because it’s that author’s memory to keep.
What we won’t allow
- No spam, bots, scrapers, harassment, or attacks on the service.
- Child sexual abuse material is removed and reported to authorities, and the account is terminated.
- On discoverable stories, if someone objects to their likeness or privacy, we’ll evaluate and remove if reasonable.
Full terms
1. Ownership & rights
You retain ownership of all stories you write and publish on Weavelore. Lore contributions remain the intellectual property of the readers who submit them, but by submitting Lore a reader grants you and Weavelore a perpetual, royalty-free, worldwide license to incorporate that Lore into your stories and use it as described here. Weavelore owns all right, title, and interest in the platform, design, code, trademarks, and logos. By marking a story discoverable, you affirm that you own or have permission to use all photos, text, and referenced materials in it.
2. Use of stories for publishing & training
When you mark a story “discoverable,” you grant Weavelore a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to publish it (print collections, books, compilations, or other media), to use it to train machine-learning models and AI systems, and to sublicense these rights to publishing partners. In all such uses, Weavelore removes or anonymizes direct identifiers (your name, email, phone, address), but may retain location, dates, and contextual detail. Photos in discoverable stories are not included in AI training if they contain reasonably recognizable people, unless you have explicitly affirmed consent for that specific photo. Private letters are never used for publishing or training; they remain visible only to the recipient unless you later mark the story discoverable.
3. Lore contributions
By submitting Lore, a reader agrees that their contribution becomes a permanent part of the author’s story, that it is included in all uses if the story is later made discoverable, and that their name is associated with their contribution in any published version unless anonymized. When Lore is used for AI training, reader names and personal identifiers are anonymized consistent with Section 2.
4. Subscription & payment
Weavelore offers a subscription; the current price is shown in the app. Billing is processed through Apple In-App Purchase only, and you are not charged until your account reaches the sending or discoverability gate. Apple processes your payment details — Weavelore does not store, access, or process your card. You may cancel at any time through your Apple account settings, effective at the end of the current billing cycle.
Cancellation is not deletion. Cancelling a subscription is distinct from deleting your account. On cancellation your account continues on the free tier and your stories are retained; you may export them in a portable format at any time. Cancellation alone does not delete your stories or account.
Account deletion. You may delete your account at any time from within the app. On deletion, Weavelore permanently erases: your authentication/login; your profile and personal identifiers (name, email, phone, contact identity); your draft, private, and unsent stories together with their photos and stored files; your relationship graph; and your analytics, letterbox, and inbox records. Weavelore retains only (i) letters you have already sent, which remain accessible to their recipients — a sent letter is a delivered gift and is not recalled on your deletion; and (ii) Lore you have contributed to other users’ stories, which remains part of those stories. Your display name is retained solely as authorship of content you chose to send or contribute. Where another user deletes their account, Weavelore removes that user’s personal identifiers and their ability to be contacted or connected through the service; a plain, non-identifying authored mention that another author incorporated into their own story may remain, as it is that author’s content. Retention is limited to the specific content described and does not extend to any other personal data.
5. Third-party services
Weavelore relies on third-party services including Apple (authentication and payments), Supabase (database and storage), Vercel (web hosting), an email delivery provider, and AI providers to operate; your data necessarily flows through these providers. Weavelore is not responsible for their outages or breaches — review their own policies for details.
6. User conduct
You agree not to spam or send bulk unsolicited messages; automate access or scrape data; attempt denial-of-service, hacking, or unauthorized access; harass, defame, or incite harm against others; or solicit or distribute child sexual abuse material (CSAM). Weavelore has zero tolerance for CSAM: suspected material is removed, reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) CyberTipline, and results in immediate account termination with evidence preserved for law enforcement. For discoverable stories, if a third party submits a valid objection (privacy, defamation, harassment), Weavelore will evaluate and may remove the story or Lore if reasonably justified. Weavelore may terminate an account for violation of these terms; you may request a hearing within 30 days to contest.
7. Disclaimers & limitation of liability
Weavelore is provided “as-is,” without warranties of any kind, and makes no guarantee of uninterrupted or error-free service. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Weavelore’s total liability for any claims arising from these terms is limited to the amount you paid Weavelore in the 12 months preceding the claim, and Weavelore is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.
8. Dispute resolution
Any dispute arising from these terms or your use of Weavelore is resolved by binding arbitration in California rather than in court, governed by California law, on an individual basis (no class actions).
9. Feedback
Any feedback, suggestions, or ideas you provide about the platform become the property of Weavelore, which has no obligation to acknowledge, implement, or credit you for them.
10. Data security & privacy
Weavelore does not store passwords; you authenticate through Apple. User data is encrypted in transit and at rest. In the event of a security breach affecting your data, Weavelore will notify affected users within 30 days. How we handle your data is described in our Privacy Policy. Weavelore is currently available in English and is not offered to residents of the European Union.
11. Changes & contact
Weavelore may modify these terms; continued use after a change constitutes acceptance. For questions or concerns, use the “Report a concern” link on any story page or the contact address published in the app.
